Just a quick note to let you know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult journey. I have went through cancer with my mom 8 years ago and she has been cancer free since then. Stay positive as I know you will with your bubbly personality and you will get through it. Get well soon and can't wait to see you back doing the weather soon.

Like the above comment, just a quick note to let you and your family know that you are in out thoughts and prayers as you travel this journey. I have been reading your blog and some of the quotes you have chosen speak deeply about the person I believe you to be. Attitude is so important in healing - I believe you have that one aced! Keep your bubbly personality and positive outlook, knowing that you have your family, your friends and indeed a whole host of strangers who are rooting for your return in front of the cameras.

Anwar, we were so saddened to hear that your wonderful and happy life with your "tv family" is being interrupted temporarily. You have a journey to take...one that will make you stronger, make you better  and one, I am sure that you will learn a great deal from. We have had several family members who have had to deal with cancer when there was not the technology and the greatly increased knowledge and the wonderful professionals who will make your journey as smooth and easy as possible.
We will miss your weather reports and your on location bits a great deal. I remember when you were with the weather network and always thought that you would go on to bigger and better things.
Take care, relax and know that there are a lot of people who have you in their prayers, including us and that we will follow your path and look forward to your return to your "tv family".

Anwar, i have just read your post, about your first day at Princess Margaret hospital. Believe me, you are in the care of some of the best nurses and doctors in the country. I spent five weeks going to that hospital everyday, for my radiation treatments, and everyone there was so kind, and understanding, of what you are going through. I used to feel sorry for myself, that i had a brain tumor, why me? why me? i used to think, until i went there, and sat in the waiting room, everyday.I looked around the room, and saw people much worse off than myself.
Hang in there Anwar, this will be very hard for you, but always think of the positive, and it will get you through this.I used to think of what i would be doing this time next year, i will do this, and i will do that. That was my little bit of dreaming, that go me through my radiation sessions. !!
The staff are brilliant, you are in wonderful hands.

Good day Anwar,

My wife and I were very sad to hear your news, we went through this with our daughter, Sheryl, like you was very brave and mentally strong. I am attending a pain clinic in Oakville and the good part about the class is the philosophy of positive thinking and visualising that the cancer is going away, our prayers, best wishes and a positive attitude are what we are sending your way, YOU will beat this Anwar because of who you are.  God Bless you and give you a speedy recovery.

Just a note to say I am thinking of you as you embark on your treatment. Your updates are very informative and must certainly be helpful to others who may be starting their own treatment, with varying degrees of trepidation.
Hopefully your need to pee will be your "worst" reaction to the treatments as you work your way back to a full, successful, and complete recovery.
Keep your many friends and followers posted on your progress.
My best wishes and prayers go out to you.
Warmest regards, from my heart.

I miss your energy and positive outlook every day but you must remember to TAKE the time to rest and take care of yourself.  You seem like the type of guy who always wants to be upbeat and happy and looking after everyone else, so now the challenge is for you to let others look after you and give yourself permission to relax and take the time to let your body heal.  Good luck with the treatments and hang in there!

Hi Anwar,

I have been wanting to write for a while.  I am a cancer survivor. I have fought and won four times.  Twice against a disease that claimed my twin sister (ovarian).  I don't tell many people this because I do not want the "poor you" looks or comment for that matter.  Fact is I survived and I am here and for this I am extremely grateful.

The one piece of advice I have is that beating this "thing" is 98% positive attitude and 2% good luck.

I have been fighting since 1988 and this past November I finally won, 5 complete years cancer free.

When things are darkest remember, you are not alone, you have family and friends and faith all in your corner.  In your case even fans of the "Weather Weanie".

and that there is always someone worse off than you because out there someone is going through this without faith, family and/or friends.

Good Luck and stay positive on your journey, you are in my prayers.  We survivors have to look out for each other!

Dear Anwar: I am so glad to have read that you are surviving. Ha, I think you are cute with your hair but it will grow back. With Lupus you loose your hair too, have to agree with you, scared me a whole lot. So did ya tell the baby rabbit all the hassles of this. I wish you well and I miss you massively on the weather. I am praying for your recovery where you will celebrate being a survivor. Just keep picturing that picture. Will it be a yellow t-shirt or pink? You will make it, just stay positive. Not that easy but you seem to know how to turn your mind off this catastrophe so this will keep you well. I miss your roaming weather reports so hurry up ok and get better. My brother was environment canada-besides David, Bill Hepburn. Man he was driving us crazy with leaving doors open while he measures and records rain/snow and had every kind of weather map on his walls.  Did you get into this the same way or no? Well will keep praying for yah!

Dear Anwar,  My sister had the same illness last year.  What a strong person she was,I did most of the crying for her. Doing amazing now. I have followed your story daily.  I do in-home care for an elderly client and we watched you fron the beginning on CTV.  Both of us fell in love.  Everyday she says when is Anwar coming back?  She is on holidays for a month so I told her that I would read about you everyday and tell her all about it when she comes home. Hi Anwar,

I had non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and just had my final chemo treatment today.  YAY!
It's been a rough summer, but I was lucky to have a good prognosis and a strong, optimistic mind.  I am planning a fundraiser called "I Move Forward" on Monday, October 25th at the St. Lawrence Center for the Performing Arts.  We will be raising awareness and funds for artists touched by cancer.  If you get a minute, check out the website.  The response has been overwhelming and tickets are selling extremely fast.  Cancer is something that has touched everyone in some way, and though it sucks, the strength of the human spirit and the love we receive from our support systems can get us through more easily.  I am glad you are doing well.  All the best.

You are a brave soul, and an inspiration to everyone that is experiencing this setback in their lives.  I have read your article, and I will ask my daughter to also read it in the days to follow, as this Saturday, she also begins the "journey into the unknown".  I cannot tell you how I am terrified for her and how the anxiety is eating me alive.  I can only ask God and "my dearly Departed loved ones" to keep a watchful eye and guide us through all this.  Her pain and agony is also mine.
